Men’s Basketball Suffers Home Lost
The Oxford College of Emory University men's basketball team lost their first home game Saturday afternoon against the Tigers of Southern Crescent Technical College. The Eagles fell 71-65.
Oxford was down early in the first half as the Tigers built a 17-7 lead. The Eagles would slowly chip away and tie the game back up at 33 apiece at the 1:14 mark. The game with go into halftime, with both teams scoring 35 points.
After the break, the Eagles again found themselves down by 10 points early on. However, the Eagles would fight back and go on a 10-0 run to tie the game at 45-45 at the 11:53 mark. Both teams would exchange baskets for the remainder of the contest as neither team could pull away. It would not be until the final minute when Southern Crescent would score two unanswered baskets that proved to be the deciding factor.
Sophomore KJ Walker led the Eagles with 21 points, twelve coming in the second half. Freshman Zuri Greene contributed 11 points, his second outing with double digits. Sophomores Nick Hardin and Isaac Snyder would each score 10 points.
The Eagles, now 5-3, look to finish the remainder of the semester on the road, starting with a trip into town to face Oglethorpe University Reserve Squad. The game will be on Monday, November 21st, at 7:00 pm.
