Eagles Ready to Soar: Emory Oxford Men's Basketball Tips Off 2025-26 Season
The Oxford College of Emory University men's basketball team is set to start a new season after three exhibition games. The Eagles will open their season, Monday, Nov. 3, versus Reinhardt University JV on the road at 8 p.m. The first home game is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 5th at 7 p.m. versus Community Christian College of Georgia in Williams Gym.
The Eagles return nine players from last year's squad and welcome six incoming first year players. Emory Oxford has named sophomore Jason Kim (Jericho, N.Y.) as captain.
"We have an experienced squad with a good mix of young talent this season. I am excited to start the season," commented Head Coach Roderick Stubbs.
The Eagles return their entire starting lineup and four Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) All-Region performers. Leo Etah (Marietta, Ga.) averaged 21.6 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per game. Ved Desai (Chantilly, Va.) averaged 17.3 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per game. Adeniyi Ogunlana (Missouri City, Texas), shooting guard, is a solid on-the-ball defender and another natural leader with great range on his jump shot. He averaged 10.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. Ogunlana shot a team-best 77.3% from the free throw line. Kim, point guard, is a natural floor general that can score and see the floor well. He averaged 10.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. Nationally, he was ranked 14th in assists.
The Eagles also return starter Nicholas Yatros (Holmes Beach, Fla.), center, who has a strong post presence with a soft touch and can be a threat from the outside; Tyler Pavlik (Clarendon Hills, Ill.), shooting guard, with a nice shooting form; and Daniel Shin (Irving, Calif.), shooting guard, who is a solid threat from the three. Leonardo Curatolo (Seattle), post player and Daniel Majzoub (Oak Brook, Ill.), small forward/post, round out a very talented group of returners.
The Eagles have six newcomers that will be called into action with high expectations. Alex Straser (Menlo Park, Calif.) is a shooting guard has shown a lot of potential in the preseason and looks to be a major contributor. Nyles Dobson (Atlanta), shooting guard/small forward, is a top level defender that brings a lot of energy. He is a very versatile player for the Eagles. Nick Kipers (Atlanta), shooting guard, is a solid player and three-point specialist. Antonio Calebrese (Houston) is a power forward/small forward who will be a mismatch problem for a lot of teams this year with his inside/outside game. Evan Brolsma (Austin, Texas), post player, is a strong defensive presence and a solid player and Asa Beckett (New York) is a true point guard and floor general.
