Men's basketball wins 94-82 on Sophomore Day
Oxford, Ga. - The Emory Oxford men's basketball team honored its sophomores during Sophomore Day and beat the visiting Christian Community College of Georgia 94-82.
The Eagles got off to a good start, easily making baskets while the visitors struggled. Oxford was up by 15 points at halftime.
The team found difficulty scoring early in the second half and found themselves up by only one midway through the second. Sophomores Nicholas Yatros and Daniel Shin both made field goals to put Oxford up, while sophomore Leo Etah made a three-pointer to give the Eagles a small cushion going into the final five minutes of the game.
Sophomore Jason Kim led Oxford with 23 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Etah scored 20 points, while Yatros had 15. He also had nine rebounds. Also in double digits for the home team was Shin with 10 points.
The Eagles finish the regular season at 18-9. The team will face Sandhills Community College in regional playoffs on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. in Pinehurst, N.C.
