Three sophomores named to basketball all-region team
Three Emory Oxford men's basketball players have been named as Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association All-Region XVII Men's DIII Basketball members.
Sophomores Ved Desai, Leo Etah and Jason Kim were all named to the team for the second time. The three players also each had a record-breaking season for the Eagles.
Desai scored his 1,000th career point this year, soon after teammate Etah before the third player to do so. Desai finished the season leading the team with 564 points (20.1 points per game). As of March 2, he is 12th in the nation in total points and 20th in the nation in points per game. Desai also led the team in total rebounds (205, 7.3 per game) and defensive rebounds (151, 5.4 per game)). He started every game for Oxford.
Etah scored his 1,000th point of his career this season. He was 28th in the nation in points with 501 and 43rd in points per game with 17.9. Etah finished the season with 178 total rebounds (second on the Eagles, 6.4 per game) and led the team in minutes played (906).
Kim broke two Oxford records this season. He is the all-time career assists leader with 299 and had the most assists in one season with 169. He was second in the nation in total assists and third in assists per game (6.0). Kim scored 278 points this season (third on the team, 9.0 points per game) and had team-best 68 steals. He was also second on the team in defensive rebounds (111, 4.0 per game) and fourth in total rebounds (136, 4.9 per game). Kim started every game for the Eagles this season.
