Oxford, Ga. - The Emory Oxford men's soccer team defeated visiting Central Georgia Technical College 3-0 for the team's first win of the season.
The teams played evenly in the first half without many scoring opportunities on either side. The half ended with a tie at 0.
The Eagles applied more pressure in the second half, trying to break the tie. About 20 minutes into the half, first-year Eli Willingham was able to score the first goal of the game. Sophomore Denis Tahirovic assisted on the goal. About 10 minutes later, Tahirovic scored a goal of his own with an assist by first-year Lucas Wendel.
With a minute remaining in the game, sophomore Heath Dunlop scored to seal the win for Emory Oxford. Wendel also assisted on that goal.
Sophomore Chris Do made two saves for the Eagles.
Emory Oxford is now 1-5-1 on the season.
The Eagles will travel to face Andrew College on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. for their next game.
