Women's soccer's Speed and Shaw named Scholar All-Americans
Sophomores Sarah Speed and Maria Shaw from women's soccer were named to the United Soccer Coaches 2024 Junior College Women's Scholar All-America Team.
Speed, from Columbia, South Carolina, was named to the first team. During the season, she started every game and scored two goals. Speed was also named to the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association All-Region First Team for defense and was the captain for the Eagles this season. This was her second year on the team.
Shaw, from Sarasota, Florida, was named to the second team. She is a two-year defender for the women's team. Shaw started every game for the Eagles and scored one goal during the season.
Players were chosen based on academic and athletic achievements during the season. To be eligible, nominees must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30, play in at least 75% of the team's games, and be an elite player.
